Emergency Lights and Apartment Buildings

When the power goes out, do you know where to go? Or better yet, how to get there? Some exit signs and hallway lighting doesn’t last long. Learn from others.

I live on the 7th floor and since the power had been out for hours and hours, some of the battery powered emergency lights had gone dead in the stairwell. So I get stuck up on the 7th floor and it is pitch black and I’m groping around for the door handle and I realize, I have no idea how many doors down I live from the stairwell.

I went all the way back downstairs when I found that the light at the very bottom of the stairwell had just gone out. Yey! There are three doors at various angles you have to go through to get out of the stairwell on the bottom floor.

I do not envy the blind. Not one little bit.
